VICTORIAN COACH HOUSE GARDEN

This project was an interesting opportunity where the adaptation and restoration of the existing building was undertaken as part of the design of the garden. The client was insistent on using as much of the original bricks and architectural items as possible, therefore all the brick paving on the floor is reclaimed from the old wall structure. The space is divided into 12 small beds for growing veg separated by brick paver paths. Each of the 12 beds is fully irrigated on a timer system. At the entrance to the garden, a brick wall and three brick piers have been built to hang a large iron gate. Where possible the levels of the existing building remained, however a new concrete floor had to be installed inside the new potting shed area. The client sourced reclaimed french doors and the black cast iron gutter.
